- 1 ½ cup cups almond flour (150g)
- 3 large egg whites (approximately 90g)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5g)
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips (optional for drizzling or mixing in)Optional
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
Whisk the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl until stiff peaks form. This may take about 3-4 minutes with a handheld mixer on high speed.
Mix the almond flour, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a separate large bowl until fully combined. If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them in now.
Fold the whipped egg whites into the almond flour mixture. Be gentle but thorough, ensuring no lumps remain and the batter is uniform.
Scoop the batter onto the prepared baking sheet using a tablespoon or a cookie scoop. Space them about 1 inch apart.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the macaroons are golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Substitutions: If you don’t have almond flour, you can use finely ground blanched almonds, but the texture may vary slightly.
- Storage: Store the macaroons in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze them for longer storage (up to 3 months).
- Serving Suggestions: Serve these macaroons with a hot cup of tea or coffee. They also pair wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
